You know those exes we all regret? The ones we should have left behind, or never even gone near? Well, plastic is exactly that and it is time to break up.

Our relationship with plastic is totally toxic. It should have been left back in the 80s along with leotards and leg warmers.

Plastic lulls into a false sense of ease, it lies to us. It makes us think it is undoubtedly good for us. Safe, harmless, just a material wanting to see the world, to be used and loved by millions worldwide.

So far plastic, you have won the hearts of the young and old. But now we’re kicking you aside, your time is over. A new star is in town, and that star is bamboo.

Everything plastic ever made you believe is a lie.

Plastic tells us it takes somewhere between 400-500 years to decompose. The truth is plastic never decomposes, it breaks into tiny little fragments, known as microplastics, and these inhabit the earth forever.

Now you might be thinking, why is this a problem? Let me tell you why, microplastics find their way into our entire eco-system, from clothes to food, you cannot escape them.

Every year, approximately 8 million tons of plastic waste enters the oceans and is never retrieved. This plastic waste is then ingested by animals, including, seals, whales, dolphins, turtles and even smaller fish, yes including the ones you eat. Quite often these animals are either suffocated by the material, or starved to death due to their stomachs bursting with plastic.

The average person eats 70,000 microplastics a year, yuck!

According to scientists, we throw away enough plastic every year to circle the earth 10 times.. just let that sink in.

We as a civilisation are simply addicticted to microplastics but these beastly little creatures are causing quite the problem for our planet and our health.

The question is how do we change our habits and more importantly, can we?

Natural alternatives and sustainable solutions are more readily available and it is time to turn our attention towards them.

At Panda Packaging we offer a range of solutions to help you break up with plastic and remove it entirely from your daily essentials.
